Welcome to the online learning platform of the Sorig Institute གསོ་རིག་ཁང་། School of Traditional Tibetan Medicine founded by Dr. Nida Chenagtsang.

Sowa Rigpa (Tib. གསོ་བ་རིག་པ།) is the name of the traditional medical system of Tibet and other Himalayan regions including Bhutan, Nepal, Ladakh, Sikkim, and Mongolia. With roots dating back more than 2000 years, it is one of the oldest healing traditions in existence, yet it remains fully alive and intact today, having preserved its authenticity through the pure lineage of transmission. Incorporating elements from the foreign medical systems of Ancient India, China, and Greece, it retains its own distinctly Himalayan character, shaped by both Buddhist and pre-Buddhist thought. This is a truly holistic system of medicine that utilizes highly sophisticated diagnostic techniques and the five main treatment methods of diet and lifestyle modifications, herbal medicine, manual therapies (such as Kunye massage), and spiritual healing in order to fulfill its fourfold aim of preventing illness, curing illness, extending life, and cultivating happiness.

In order to get the most out of our online courses it is highly recommended to attend the webinars live. However if this is not possible due to time zone or other restrictions, our courses may be followed via the recordings which all registrants gain access to, along with additional resources and textual support.

Certificate of completion will be granted by the Sorig Institute གསོ་རིག་ཁང་། upon attendance of all modules and completion of all quizzes and homework assignments within the designated time allowed for each course.

Together Sowa Rigpa: The Foundations Part 1 & 2 correspond to Sorig Khang International (SKY)’s Year One/ 150 Hour curriculum consisting of TTM 1, TTM 2, and TTM 3. Completion of these two courses permits you to continue on to Sorig Khang International TTM 4, or to continue on with further Sorig Institute trainings.

20% of proceeds of all our live online courses is donated to the Ngakmang Foundation in order to support students from remote Himalayan villages to become fully trained Sowa Rigpa doctors at the Sowa Rigpa International College in Nepal.
